Sammy Brown
Sammy’s career in the fire service spans coast to coast, marked by dedication, leadership, and a deep respect for the profession.
He began his journey in Auburn, Washington, serving as a Firefighter from 1995 to 2001. Early on, he recognized the unique rewards of the fire service — the chance to learn, grow, and serve the community in meaningful ways. His commitment led him to join Auburn Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Team and Swift Water Rescue Team. It was during his Hazardous Materials training that he met his wife, Jessica, a partnership that he has shared ever since.
In 2001, Sammy and Jessica relocated to South Florida to be closer to family. He joined Pembroke Pines Fire and Rescue as a Firefighter/EMT, later earning his Paramedic certification. Over the years, he rose steadily through the ranks — serving as Lieutenant, Captain, the President for the IAFF, Local 2292, and ultimately retiring in 2018 as an Upgrade Battalion Chief.
Drawn back to the Pacific Northwest by its family-friendly environment and natural beauty, Sammy, Jessica, and their two sons, Mason and Marshall, settled in the region. He went on to serve as Deputy Chief and Fire Chief for Cowlitz County Fire District 5 and as a Training Officer for the Boeing Fire Department. Today, he is honored to work alongside the talented and dedicated team at East County Fire and Rescue as Deputy Chief.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sammy values balance and creativity. He enjoys playing guitar, working on home projects, and most of all, spending time with Jessica and their boys.
