Compensation for Commissioners

Commissioners are paid a stipend for each day or portion of a day spent attending official board meetings or performing other services or duties for the district as specified in Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 52.14.010.

The State of Washington Office of Financial Management (OFM) adjusts the dollar amount of commissioner stipends every five years based on changes in the consumer price index. Effective January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2028, the OFM set the rate of fire commissioners’ compensation at one hundred and sixty one ($161) per day for a maximum of 96 days a year, with an annual compensation limit of fifteen thousand four hundred and fifty six dollars ($15,456).
