Volunteer Opportunities

East County Fire & Rescue is a combination fire department with career and volunteer personnel working together to provide excellent service to our community.  Volunteer firefighters participate in all aspects of firefighting, including structural firefighting and emergency medical response.  Applications for volunteer membership with the Fire District are accepted year round.  Testing for volunteer positions will typically occur twice per year.  Download the application and return it to Station 91.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license

After initial screening, all applicants must complete the following:

  • Criminal background check
  • Medical exam
  • Drug Screen

Successful applicants will be invited to test for volunteer positions.  Testing consists of the following:

  • Written general knowledge exam
  • Physical ability testing – Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, 1 Mile Walk/Run
  • Oral board interview

 

Initial training required after acceptance in volunteer program

12 Week Fire Academy All day Saturday for the duration of the academy.

EMT Basic Certification Course Typically 2 evenings per week and all day Saturday for 12 weeks.  Recruits that have already completed EMT training and are certifiable in the State of Washington will not be required to attend this course.
