Full-Time Firefighter Recruitment

East County Fire and Rescue (ECFR) is establishing a hiring pool for full-time firefighter/emergency medical technician-basic (EMT-B). The district anticipates hiring three firefighters from this pool in January of 2025 and candidates in the hiring pool will be eligible for hire for 12 months following the recruitment process. Qualifications

Applicants who are currently firefighter/EMTs with two-years of experience (paid or volunteer) or will achieve two-years of experience before expiration of the hiring eligibility may apply. Minimum qualifications include EMT-Basic (state licensure or NREMT), Firefighter 1 (IFSAC, Pro Board, or DPSST), Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations (IFSAC, Pro Board, or DPSST), Class-C driver’s license.

Wages and Benefits

Fourth Class Firefighter (Probationary Firefighter) annual salary $79,897.71. Leave consisting of paid sick leave and annual leave. Retirement plans include LEOFF 2 and 4% deferred compensation with no match required.

Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will be scheduled to complete a Physical Abilities Test as well as an Assessment Center. The testing process will consist of two days. Candidates will complete the Physical Abilities Test on day one. Candidates who pass the Physical Abilities Test will move on to day two, in which they will complete the Assessment Center. The Assessment center will consist of a panel interview followed by a skills assessment.
